The Trust is delighted to have the support of Dixons City Academy in Bradford this year. The Academy’s Student Council have chosen us to be their overseas charity for this academic year and will be supporting us in a number of ways. Trustees visited the Academy in February and March to talk to the students about Eritrea and the work that we have been doing in the village of Bogu. The whole school had a non-uniform day in March in aid of the trust raining a whopping £638! The Council are also discussing other ways in which the Academy can support our work.
Student Council Co-Ordinator and teacher Debbie Vickerman said that each year the students at Dixons City Academy choose one International charity to support. When they learned more about the work that The Trust has been doing in Eritrea they were very excited about getting involved. The students particularly liked the fact that they would be able to see directly where there contributions would go and would be able to keep updated on the progress of the charity via the team members of The Trust.
Chair of the Student Council Bilal Khan said ’As a whole council we are pleased to be working with such a proactive charity group where we can see what is going on. We look forward to seeing and hearing about the progress that happens in the village in Eritrea due to the help of the academy’
