Bogu Village Library

Just before Christmas 2011, the trustees (and friends & families) had the mammoth task of sorting though all the books kindly donated to our library project.  There were almost 5,000 in total, all of which had to sorted into fiction and non-fiction. We also had to decide which books might be inappropriate (horror & violence) and irrelevant (potty training & Bob the Builder in Polish). They then had to be alphabetised by author, catalogued and categorised for a suitable age.  Each book then had a lending pocket & borrowing card inserted before being boxed up and put into storage before shipping.

The photos show the three-day process taking place!  Many thanks to all who helped and especially Newlaithes Primary School for allowing us to use their school hall.

The books eventually arrived in Eritrea.  The library build was completed in 2012 and new shelving was bought to house them.  You can see pictures of the new building in 2012 Trip Gallery.
